My name’s Tom.
I’ve lived here on Wabash for almost 6 years now as one of the only renters in the neighborhood, but I have no plans on leaving as me, my Fiancé and our roommate really, really love it here. I do hope to one day afford to buy the home I live in.
I’ve been meaning to make rounds and introduce myself, but the truth is, it’s cozy inside… Too cozy. Having everything I need—gadgets, gizmos, Netflix, air fryers, roombas, fiber internet, etc—can give the illusion that maybe I don’t need community, but now I’m taking steps to change that, because I know that I do, in fact, need community, as we all do. This is long overdue on my part. I’ve met some of you, and you all seem like swell, decent people.
I want to build a network of, by and for Wabash residents, where we can help each other with services we’d otherwise contract or outsource (and pay $$$) a 3rd party or a big corporation for. I’m sure most of us have too much stuff (I know I do), and between however many households there are on this Circle (and the surrounding area), we probably have plenty of excess food bought/prepared/wasted, needless bills (paying $70-150 or more for cable, internet, etc) when we could share our excess bandwidth. We order Ubers, get door dash, Instacart, everyplate—corporations that have taken things from people, families, communities, etc, that we, since the dawn of humanity, have always, naturally provided for each other—only to sell those very same things right back to us.
I personally will be offering my services for free, and will only accept donations if they are within what one can reasonably afford, according to what one thinks is fair, etc. Honor system. I don’t want your money unless you want to give it. Every dollar not siphoned out of our community to monopoly corporations is a Wabash win.
On the following pages, you’ll find what goods/services I would be happy to provide any of you. If you would like to be a part of this network and have goods/services you know you could provide for others locally, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

What Tom can provide:
Skills/Services/Expertise:
- Help around the house/yard. I can help you lift/move furniture, pick up around the house/yard, mow lawns, clean, etc.
- Some IT experience. I’ve built several computers, helped many friends & family with their computers, internet, etc. I’ve built my home network, and am researching DIY, off-grid, local alternatives to Ring cameras, as Ring just recently partnered w/ the private license-plate-reader company Flock, putting some of our most vulnerable data in the hands of god-only-knows-who.
- Pet sitting/check ins. We have a cat and he sometimes needs looking after, so I know how it is needing a pet sitter. I’d love to help if/where I can.
- Some Security (digital). I’ve learned a lot in recent years, have been de-googling, as the kids call it, and have acquired a list of alternatives to many big-monopoly-tech-company services that we ought not to give our full trust to, in my opinion, and would be happy to share some of what I’ve learned.
- Some basic cooking/catering. I have a few home-run, fool-proof dishes I whip up from time to time (my Chinese Chicken & Broccoli ain’t half bad, but don’t take it from pastey-ol’-me). I’ll do big batches of Quesadillas now and then, fried chicken, etc.
- Someone to talk to. If you just need to get out of the house, someone to vent to or take a walk with, I’m game! I’m tired of being so cozy with my hyper-individual suburban living that social-life starts to fall by the way-side. It just feels unnatural.
- Music. This is my main field of expertise. I’ve been a full time, career musician, performer, and educator, for as long as I’ve lived in Denver, up until very recently (how bout that economy, amirite?). I’ve had over 200+ 1-1 students, created multiple master classes, and have taught classrooms at Slam Acacemy’s Denver location (since closed). I’ve traveled to most major cities in the country, many of them multiple times. I’ve headlined events here in Denver at The Black Box, and Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, as well as having performed at the Mission Ballroom. If you or your kids are looking to learn how to make music—particularly electronic music production or DJing—I’d be overjoyed to help. Or if you wanna borrow my turn tables, or just come over and hang out and mess with some of my equipment or jam, shoot me a message, call or text!
- Some basic woodworking/Acoustic treatment. I’ve made over 75+ acoustic sound panels for myself + friends and family. If you have a home studio, and are looking to improve the listening experience (aka sound treatment), OR, are trying to prevent sound from leaving/entering your space (aka sound proofing) I would looooove to help with this. Panels could come in many shapes, sizes, designs, colors, materials—they could sit on the wall via a French cleat, could hang from the ceiling (a “cloud” panel), or stand on 2 legs. I’ve got plenty I’ve made in my house that I’d be happy to share pictures of, or if you’d wanna come by and check ‘em out, just shoot me a call/text/message! I’ve also made a few shelves, my desk, and the stands I use for my studio monitors (speakers).
- Public speaking & Voice over work. If you have a book you’ve always wanted to read, but have eye troubles, some form of blindness, difficulty reading, attention issues, or you simply don’t have enough time, and that book is not already available as an audiobook online, I have the voice, acoustic treatment, and recording equipment to make that happen. Of course, AI can do this, but oh lawd, it just does not hit the same, and I personally find it harder to follow the very unnatural cadence of AI voices (plus, it’s so lame). Or if you need a face or a voice for your project or business, please let me know. My partner also does voice acting. Or if you need someone to appear at a rally, an organizer, etc, please let me know!
- Photography. I have a Canon EOS M50, a few decent lights and a good eye. I’ve been an artist my whole life, and while photography isn’t my main schtick, if you need headshots or something like that, or even just some advice/feedback on “content creation” (pardon if cringe), I would be happy to help).
- An extra room. We have 1 ½ guest rooms, plus a big comfy couch in the living room, as well as a couple other couches in our sun room. If you have friends, family, or other guests coming to town, and don’t have adequate space, or if you just need remove yourself from a situation for a night, or longer, we are happy to host.
Goods/Food/Resources/Commodities/Misc ”Stuff”:
- In the event of a blackout, or some form of infrastructure collapse, I’ve got a modest stockpile of Rice, beans & water. Short list for now, and only about a 3-4 week supply for the 3 of us in this house at the moment, but it’s something. I’d like to expand this stockpile ofc.
- VR headset. I don’t need this thing at all, and I bought it on impulse. It’s in perfect condition. If you wanna borrow it or mess around with it, I’d be happy to lend it, or if you wanna throw a few bones, or offer to trade something, I’m game
- A Roomba. Same sentiment as above.
- We’ve got a real nice borderline-industrial vacuum that we’d be happy to lend out now and then.
- I have a table saw, a circular hand saw, a jig saw.
- Fiber internet. Could run a cable or set up transmitter/receiver nodes on our rooves and create our own neighborhood internet infrastructure. I’m already sharing mine with the nextdoor neighbors and it’s hardly a drop in the bandwidth bucket.
- Loads of books to share.
- There’s probably more I can offer that I’m simply forgetting to include. Feel free to reach out!
